With fall well under way and winter right around the corner, there’s no better time to plan ahead for dealing with whatever snow we might get. Luckily, if you’ve got a tractor, you don’t need a dedicated snow removal machine—just hook up the right attachments and you’re good to go! We here at Mike Cooper Tractors believe in balancing preparation with your budget, so we’ve put together a short list of tractor implements that can be used for snow removal. Snowblower Attachments

This one is pretty obvious, and it’s one you’re unlikely to own already. Essentially a snowblower implement grabs snow and shoots it off to one side, and more have adjustable deflectors so you can throw it wherever you want. These are great for clearing roads, driveways, parking lots, and sidewalks.

Bladed Attachments

There are a few bladed attachments that can help clear out snow which you might already own for other tasks. Some are designed specifically for snow, called snow blades, that are mounted on the front and tend to be lighter built. But a common one for snow removal is a box blade hooked up behind the tractor. This allows you to level and collect snow, then dump it where you like.

A V-blade attachment on the front also works, letting you push the snow to both sides. This is great for clearing a path approximately the size of your tractor.

Angle Brooms

An angle broom is a tractor implement that looks about how it sounds. It utilizes a wide array of soft bristles arranged in a sort of wave pattern, mounted at an angle. This is great for brushing away light snow drifts without damaging a blade or risking chips to the pavement below. They’re compact enough to allow for easy use in confined areas and tight corners, making angle brooms perfect for clearing snow away from curbs, corners, and other obstacles.

Scrapers

If you're dealing more with ice than snow, as our area often does, you might need a scraper attachment as well. With these you can chip away at packed snow or dense ice until it can be more easily cleared away. These attachments are sharp and durable, but it’s best to use them on flat, even surfaces to avoid damaging them or the surface itself.

Spreaders

Finally, how do you prevent snow and ice from building up in the first place? With a spreader! With these attachments, you can load up with salt and keep your paths clear, or you can fill them with sand to help increase traction on slick surfaces.

We hope these tips help you stay snow-free this winter! For more information, or to see the tractor implements we have available, contact us at Mike Cooper Tractors. We proudly serve the people of Tulsa and Muskogee, Oklahoma—let us serve you today!
